(nineteen years later)
A Rebel alliance has formed since the creation of the empire. During one of their battles against the empire, which they won, Rebel spies stole secret plans for the armored battle station: the Death Star, which has enough power to destroy an entire planet. Princess Leia races home with the plan with an imperial ship at her heels. She puts the data and a message for Obi-wan Kenobi in R2-D2 an astromech droid before she is captured by imperial troops. Artoo and C-3PO go in an escape pod and lands on Tatooine. The droids are captured by Jawas, who sell droids. They sell them to Owen Lars, a moisture farmer; he has Luke Skywalker, his nephew, take care of them. Artoo escapes trying to find Obi-wan and Luke goes after him with Threepio. They catch up to him and are attacked by sand people. Obi-wan saves them. Meanwhile, Darth Vader has ordered a search for those droids on Tatooine. Obi-wan takes them to his house and watches the message from Princess Leia. The message asks Obi-wan to deliver the plans to Alderaan. He asks Luke to go with him and train to become a Jedi like his father, Anakin Skywalker who he says was killed by Darth Vader. At first Luke refuses, but accepts after he finds out that his Aunt and Uncle are killed by storm-troopers looking for those droids. They go to Mos Eisley and find a pilot who will take them to Alderaan, Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon. They leave Tatooine and encounter two Star Destroyers, but escape and make the jump to light-speed. On the Death Star, Governor Tarkin asks Leia where the Rebel’s secret base is. She says it’s on Dantooine, but they destroy Alderaan anyway, for a demonstration of the Death Star’s power.
The Falcon arrives at what was once Alderaan and are pulled in by the Death Star with a tractor beam. In a docking bay of the Death Star, storm-troopers search the ship, but find nothing. Our heroes were hiding in compartments used for smuggling. They discover that Princess Leia is being held here. Obi-wan goes to shut down the tractor beams so they can escape, while Luke, Han and Chewbacca, Han's co-pilot, go to find Leia. They find Leia, escape through a garbage chute, avoid being crushed by a garbage masher and fight some Imperials on the way to the ship. Obi-wan shuts down the tractor beams and confronts Darth Vader to fight him. The group boards the ship and Luke sees Obi-wan die in the hands of Vader. They fight some TIE fighters before they escape. A homing beacon was set on the Falcon going to Yavin 4.
They find out that they have been tracked and that the Death Star is coming to destroy them. They plan their strategy for the attack using the data Artoo has brought. They’ll use proton torpedoes and shoot it through an exhaust port that leads directly to the main reactor of the Death Star. Han Solo leaves with the money for rescuing the Princess. They have fifteen minutes before the Death Star has a clear shot of the base. The battle of Yavin 4 ensues. One by one, the X-wings are destroyed by TIE fighters. Darth Vader himself is one of the fighters. He shoots down X-wings in the trenches trying to shoot through the exhaust port. Luke manages to do it just in time with unexpected help from Han Solo, who shoots down pursuing TIE fighters. The Death Star explodes. At the Rebel base, they have an award ceremony for Luke and Han.
