Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

(3 years later)

After several battles and skirmishes and despite the destruction of the Death Star, the Empire is still pushing the Rebel Alliance further out of the galaxy. Luke Skywalker and his Rebel friends have formed a base on the ice-planet of Hoth. While scouting the area, Luke was attacked by a wampa ice monster. He escapes and sees Obi-wan’s ghost telling him to go to the Dagobah system to train under Yoda, a Jedi master. Han Solo finds Luke and keeps him warm until the search party finds them. Back at the base, they find an Imperial probe droid and prepare to evacuate. A Star Destroyer carrying Darth Vader arrives above the Hoth system. They attack the base using AT-AT walkers. Most of the Rebels manage to escape, except those who died defending the base, before it was obliterated. Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and Threepio escape on the Falcon and Luke goes with Artoo on his X-wing heading to Dagobah. The Falcon has some trouble with its hyperdrive and has the Star Destroyer and its TIE-fighters on its tail.

Luke arrives at Dagobah, crash-landing on a swamp. Dagobah is nothing but rainforest, swamps and creatures and Luke forgets what he’s doing here in the first place and doubts that Yoda is even here. He meets a little green creature claiming he knows Yoda and will bring Luke to him. The funny little alien brings him to his house and insists that he eats first. Luke gets impatient and then realizes that green alien is Yoda. Meanwhile, in space, the Falcon is fleeing from the pursuing Star Destroyer, dodging turbo lasers. They go into an asteroid field to lose them. It is somewhat effective as some TIE-fighters are destroyed by the asteroids. Darth Vader wants to capture them to use them as bait for Luke. Darth Sidious, his master, ordered him to capture Luke and turn him to the dark side. The Falcon goes into a cave inside a big asteroid and waits them out. The crew tries to repair the Falcon, but is forced out before they finish when they realize the cave is actually the inside of a colossal space slug. Darth Vader hires some bounty hunters to capture the Millennium Falcon. Han moves to Falcon toward the Star Destroyer and attached itself behind it, where the sensors can’t detect it. They wait until the ship dumps its garbage then detach themselves and float away with the garbage. They head towards Cloud City, a system ruled by an old friend of Han named Lando Calrissian, but don’t realize that Bobba Fett, the bounty hunter, is following them.

On Dagobah, Yoda is training Luke, teaching him the ways of the Force and to avoid the path to the dark side: fear, anger and hate. Luke is actually too old to be trained and disappointed Yoda on many occasions. On Cloud City, Han and Leia find that the Imperials were already there waiting for them. Lando was forced to betray them. While meditating, Luke has a vision of his friends suffering in a city in the clouds. He leaves for Cloud City despite opposing advice from Yoda and Obi-wan, who says he’ll ruin what his friends fought for and that his training is not complete. The Imperials torture Han and freeze him in carbonite to test the machine for Luke. Bobba Fett takes Han aboard his ship to take him to Jabba the Hutt. Luke lands on Cloud City, briefly seeing Leia telling him it’s a trap and finds his way to the freezing chamber where Darth Vader is waiting for him. Lando help Leia and Chewbacca escape and they try to stop Bobba Fett. They fail and head toward the Falcon. Luke has a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader. Luke was not ready for this fight and Vader telling that he is his father. Luke barely escapes, losing a hand to Darth Vader’s lightsaber. Hanging on an antenna below the city, he calls out to Leia who is aboard the Falcon. Leia senses him calling and turns the ship around to rescue Luke. They escape with TIE-fighters behind them. R2 fixes the hyperdrive and they jump to lightspeed towards a Rebel station where Luke gets a new bionic hand and they plan how to get Han back.
