The worst way to start the saga after 4,5 & 6: The Phantom Menace

My mom was confused about the events and characters in the Star Wars saga, so I decided to make a synopsis of all six episodes since I had nothing else to do. I did it last year so you don't have to wait for each episode, I'll post one episode every day. Here's episode one.

The Trade Federation has blockaded the peaceful planet of Naboo. The Republic Senate send two ambassadors to negotiate with the Trade Federation, who attack them after finding out that they are Jedi knights Obi-wan Kenobi and Qui-gon Jinn. The Jedi escape and sneak aboard transports carrying battle droids to Naboo. They reach Theed palace with the help of a Gungan, Jar-Jar Binks and rescue Queen Amidala and her entourage. The Queen decides to go to Coruscant to ask the Senate to stop the invasion. Their starship makes it past the blockade, but has its hyperdrive generator damaged. Nute Gunray, the viceroy of the Trade Federation reports to Darth Sidious that the Queen has escaped. They need her to sign a treaty that will legitimize their invasion of Naboo. Darth Sidious sends his apprentice Darth Maul to search for them.

Meanwhile, our heroes land on Tatooine to get a new hyperdrive so they can get to Coruscant. Qui-gon, Jar-Jar and one of the Queen’s handmaidens, Padmé go to Mos Espa to find a junk dealer who might have a T-14 hyperdrive generator. They find a Toydarian named Watto who has one. Unfortunately, Watto doesn’t accept Republic credits, the only money they have, and no one else has a T-14 hyperdrive generator. The group meets Anakin Skywalker, one of Watto’s slaves. He takes them to his house, where they meet his mother, Shmi Skywalker. She tells them that they can get the money for the hyperdrive by betting on an upcoming pod race and Anakin will race using his pod racer. Qui-gon makes the deal with Watto; if they win Watto keeps the prize money minus the cost for the hyperdrive and if they lose Watto gets the Queen’s starship. Qui-gon senses that the force is unusually strong with Anakin and makes another deal with Watto, wagering the pod racer against Anakin’s freedom. Anakin wins the race despite several technical malfunctions. Qui-gon tells Anakin that he is free and is going to be trained to become a Jedi. Anakin sadly says goodbye to his mother. On the way to the ship, Qui-gon is attacked by Darth Maul, but barely escapes.

They head to Coruscant where the Queen will inform the Senate of the Trade Federation’s invasion and Qui-gon will tell the Jedi Council about the Sith attack and ask their approval of Anakin to be a Jedi. Queen Amidala hopes that the Senate will stop the invasion once she informs them, but it just results in senseless arguing. Advised by Senator Palpatine, Amidala moves for a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum and surprisingly, Senator Palpatine is nominated to become chancellor. The Jedi Council tests Anakin and sees that he is too old and has too much anger in him; they will not train him. Queen Amidala decides to go back to Naboo, where she will sort this matter herself. The Jedi, with Anakin and Jar-Jar, accompany the Queen back to Naboo.

On Naboo, they formulate a plan to capture the viceroy. The Gungans will fight most of the battle droids while a squadron of star-fighters will attack the command ship controlling those droids. The Queen’s group will go through a secret passage to capture the viceroy. On the way, they encounter Darth Maul, who duels with the Jedi. Anakin accidentally pilots a star-fighter to the battle at the command ship. By pure luck, he enters the command ship through a docking bay and destroys it from the inside, shutting down the battle droids, while the Queen successfully captures the viceroy. Darth Maul kills Qui-gon, but then Obi-wan slices him in half. Qui-gon’s last request to Obi-wan was to train Anakin. The Council reluctantly approves that Obi-wan trains Anakin. Senator Palpatine is elected as Chancellor and the Gungans and Naboo celebrate announcing peace among them.
