Episode II: Attack of the Clones

(10 years later)

The Republic Senate is in turmoil. Several star systems have left the Republic and are deemed Separatists. Arguments ensue whether an army of the Republic should be made. Assassination attempts have been made on Padmé Amidala, who has become the Senator for Naboo. Out of questionable worry for her, Chancellor Palpatine has Obi-wan and Anakin protect her. Anakin has developed a friendship with the Chancellor. Someone tries to kill the Senator in her sleep, but the Jedi catch the assassin. They ask who she is working for, but she is killed by a poison dart before she reveals it.

Anakin has the job of protecting the Senator while she takes refuge in Naboo and Obi-wan investigates using the dart as clue to find out who is behind this. Obi-wan eventually ends up at Kamino, a planet erased from the archive database. He finds that a clone army is being built there and it was requested by Master Sifo Dyas, who was killed ten years ago. There are no records of that request in the Jedi archives. Apparently, Anakin has fallen in love with Padmé, who pretends to reject him. Anakin has nightmares of his mother dying and goes to Tatooine with Padme to find her. Shmi was sold by Watto to a moisture farmer who tells Anakin that she was taken by sand people. Anakin finds her minutes before she dies. He slaughters the sand people in his rage. Obi-wan finds the bounty hunter who is behind the assassinations and follows him to Geonosis.

The Separatist are all gathered there with Count Dooku leading them and are joining forces to prepare for war. Obi-wan sends a message to Anakin on Tattoine who relays it to the Jedi Council in Coruscant before getting captured. Anakin and Padme go to Geonosis, which is close, to rescue Obi-wan but end up getting captured too. Padme, afraid that she will die, confesses to Anakin that she loves him. On Coruscant, the Chancellor is given emergency powers to announce the creation of an army of the Republic. Obi-wan, Anakin and Padme are put in an arena where vicious beasts are set upon them. They manage to avoid getting killed until the Jedi and the clone army arrive. The Republic and the Separatists have a battle that initiates the Clone Wars. Obi-wan and Anakin chase Count Dooku and fight him. They are defeated and Anakin loses his hand. Yoda comes and fights him, but Count Dooku escapes. The Republic wins the battle and Anakin and Padme get married.
